Welcome to the first part of a four-part series! I have some good hacks for you. I'm sure you want to extend the life of your clothes and keep them looking newer longer. It makes sense to help our clothes last a long time to help save money, but did you know you can save energy at the same time?

According to USA Today’s testing lab* earlier this year, the high setting on the average clothes dryer runs about 150F, but depending on the model, it could be as hot as 188F! High heat may be an easy way to get rid of germs and allergens – but it can melt the fibers in your clothes, shortening the life of your clothes and making them look duller.

Our first common laundry mistake can DESTROY the fibers in your clothing, especially our modern synthetic blend materials. Be cool and save the high heat for sanitizing when needed; otherwise, use the low heat setting whenever possible. This also saves you money on your energy bills.

There’s a lot more ways to extend the life of your clothing, especially if you own high quality basics that can provide years of wear. Make sure to perform maintenance on your laundry machines and empty the lint dryer regularly. This will both help your machine operate at peak efficiency and keep you safe, preventing house fires.

Here’s a couple little hacks: toss a clean, dry towel into the dryer before you start the load to help clothes dry faster by absorbing excess water. Many sources say the dryer heat can also lock in stains, so make sure to pretreat with Earth Breeze Eco Sheets.

Earth Breeze Eco Sheets can be used as a stain-remover as well as a great option for your laundry. Simply tear off a piece of the sheet and place it over the stain. Add water and work the sheet into the fabric, the same way that you would add a stain remover or a pre-treatment! Let this soak for a few minutes and then wash your load as you normally would.
